I decided to include this page because I keep getting e-mail asking me "where did you take that picture of the tropical hut on your index page?" The answer is, I didn't take it -- I just included the image for atmosphere. The picture came from a CD-ROM that was packaged with the "Photosuite" image-processing software that I purchased in order to work with my own photography. Since I did not have a really appropriate image to place on my "splash" page, I thought I would use the one you see above, slightly modified. I consider this "fair use" of the image, because 1) I paid for the software and the CD-ROM images that came with it, and 2) I have taken the time to mention the software that I have used in creating this page.
That said, I realize that I am unable to give credit to the photographer who actually took the picture, and I regret that. In addition, I do not want to unfairly take credit for work that is not my own, and thus I include this notice. In fact, this information has been in the "Photography Notes" section of this site (see the Table of Contents on the main page) all along, but I have come to realize that that was not adequate, given all of the e-mail I had been getting.
In any event, with a few obvious (and labeled) exceptions, the rest of the images on this site are mine, and most have explanatory text associated with them. I am always happy to receive e-mail, though, and will gladly answer further questions that readers might have.
